Ayal Segal, M.D.
Dr. Segal graduated from the Hadassah School of Medicine in Jerusalem. He interned at Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheva, Israel, and was an orthopedic resident at Chaim Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel. In 2001, he completed a clinical fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. The following year, under the supervision of Dr. Eugene Krauss, Dr. Segal was awarded a one-year fellowship in joint replacement and adult reconstructive surgery at Glen Cove Hospital in Glen Cove, NY. In 2005 he was recruited to join the hospital’s Department of Orthopedics.
Dr. Segal specializes in total joint replacement of the knee and hip, and complex reconstructive ankle and foot surgery, with expertise in degenerative joint diseases such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and trauma.
He is an international member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, as well as a member of the Israeli Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society. Along with Dr. Krauss, Dr. Segal has volunteered his time and expertise, traveling to Ghana to perform hip and knee replacements for the underserved.
